Casa Raposeira is situated in the sought after area of Calicos, just outside the little town of Moncarapacho. From its secluded hillside position, the house is ideally positioned and is a 20-25 minute drive away from Faro airport.

 

There is an attractive walk down tracks to Moncarapacho but you might find the walk uphill carrying the shopping not so attractive! We do recommend car hire. In Moncarapacho you will find a good selection of restaurants along with banks, pharmacies, a post office and petrol station. Historic Tavira is a 20 minute drive away. The Ria Formosa National Park is about 15 minutes as is the Palace and Roman ruins at Estoi. We recommend visiting Olhao for its fish market. The young will no doubt enjoy "Slide and Splash" if you travel down the N125 towards Lagoa. Most of the local towns have markets.

The local beach at Fuzeta is a 15 minute drive away and  there are other superb beaches, including Pedras del Rei with its little train, Tavira Island and Fuzeta Island close by. Alternatively, the well-known beaches near Val de Lobo are a 30 minute drive.

 

The villa is situated a short walk from the exclusive Villa Monte (Octagon) hotel resort and a visit to enjoy their cocktails in their beautiful grounds is a must.

The Algarve has plenty of golf courses: Benamor is approximately 25 minutes away, Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima are probably 30 minutes away. You can also enjoy the famous courses at Quinta do Lago, Vale de Lobo and Vilamoura.
